Upper Bound

An upper bound is the maximum end of the range of some performance or computational quantity.

The expression is also used sarcastically to describe a program with deliberately limited capabilities, designed to avoid confusing an inexperienced user, that places an upper bound on what an experienced user can do with the program. When you see the term upper bound used with expressions such as "Macintrash," and "point and drool interface," it is used to indicate an irritating limitation.
